A devotion performed every spring and autumn during the Nakayama Shrine festival and Mishima Shrine festival. Started in 1722 during the Edo Period where every spring prayers are made for rich crops, and in autumn appreciation is shown for a good harvest.
It is said that Kagura dance originates in the Kojiki (ancient book of myths), where Amaterasu’s story also originates, and the Kagura dance of Mishima Shrine also came from it and began in the middle of Edo period (1722). A dance is performed to the beat of flutes and drums. After that, playful performances of farming acts amuse the crowds, prayers for abundant crops are made in the spring, and appreciation is shown for rich harvests in autumn. Nakayama Shrine / Mishima Shrine are decorated in Edo period stylings to appease the gods.
